Between these kits there are a huge number of variations on the Ensign theme from the 1978 season. The team had relatively low funding and so the various drivers were bringing individual sponsorship with them in addition to the team’s Tissot backing, so we see plenty of colour contrasting with the dark blue bodywork. The first kit offers eight options, the second six and then the remaining kits are either single or dual versions. Many of the options are practice or pre-qualifying cars, Leoni, Daly and de Dryver all failing to make the grid at verious points. Daly did eventually qualify for the British Grand Prix for his debut and another first timer in F1 included in the first kit is Nelson Piquet. In all there are twenty options to choose from and all of the kits include plenty of excellent photo etch and clearly printed decals with neatly drawn guides to help you get your choice of decoration right. The castings aren’t as good as we’ve seen previously from this maker and some work will be needed before painting. A brave effort none the less.
