| The
sets above are pretty much self explanatory. The wheel nuts are
similar in style to those in Tameo kits with a turned spindle to
mount the machined nut to. The tools are a mix of spanners and
pliers and would be ideal mounted on a tool board at the back of
a garage diorama as they are 2-dimensional, or the handles could
be built up with a little Kristal Kleer (MSKK).

| BBR's
kits are usually pretty well detailed but if you wish to go a lot
further then the p/e set here is well worth a look. Some of the parts
appear to duplicate those in the kit but there are also drilled,
vented brake discs, various fasteners and a wealth of grilles and
badges. Apart from the wing endplates, we are struggling to identify
most of the parts for the Lotus. The other 1:43rd fret has a strange
mix of chequer plate, seat belts, brakes and various small cockpit
details that will make useful additions to the spares box. |

| We're not sure
which incarnation of Tamiya's YZR500 the first set is for, but it
includes a chain, some grilles and various brake parts. With the
exception of the Tamiya Alpine, the other sets are all for Fujimi
kits and the contents of all are similar with the usual mixture of
brakes, wipers, badges, seat belt furniture and grilles. |

Porsche 917/20 12 Cylinder Engine

One
of the first releases that Leonardo made was a full 1:12th kit of
the Pink Pig (MLK1202) and this set of parts is taken from that
kit. It's all reasonably well cast though there are one or two small
pinholes and some very careful cleaning between the cooling fins
on the cylinder barrels may be needed. Plenty of wiring and fuel
pipe is included for final finishing and in the right hands this
will make a very good looking model. |

| These decals are
intended for Hotwheels and Minichamps die-casts and simply contain
the logos for some of the unmentionable sponsors. The Jaguar set
has the unique livery displayed on the cars to promote the 'Ocean's
Twelve' movie at Monaco but we cannot find a 1:43rd scale diamond
anywhere to mount on the nose! |

We'll
have to take these as a group for the sake of space. All are very
well detailed and will make extremely realistic settings for your
models. With the exception of the pit stop bay (TRA022LM) and the
stretch of track complete with flag marshal behind the armco (TRA088)
which are made of wood, the majority of these bases are cast in plaster.
The large race track sections will take several vehicles if you wish,
as will the rally service area. The latter would also double as a
piece of airfield runway for a 1:48th model aircraft. The obvious
subject for posing on the Monaco Sation Hairpin base would be a 1950's
or 60's F1 car, but a Monte Carlo rally entrant from the same period
would look equally at home. The final two bases are truly impressive
scenes, the 'Hilly road' represents one of those spectacular gorges
that we see on the Monte Carlo or Tour de Corse rallies, while the
village exit features a sloping bend in the road with an old house
on the corner, as seen again in Corsica. These two would also suit
for classic road cars out touring, or perhaps, with a little artistic
license, a Mille Miglia or Targa Florio machine. Photos of these
and many more bases can be found in our online shop at www.grandprixmodels.com |

|
These
hand builts represent just a small number of the total options available
from the kits, that are just too numerous to mention here. All are
well built with neatly applied decals and the small detail differences
in bodywork have been carefully observed. The two Le Mans cars are
particularly attractive, the 7th placed Nart machine having a mid-blue
stripe and tail panel, while the Maranello Commissionaires machine
is of course highlighted in their traditional Cambridge blue. |

OM 160 Ferrari Transporter 1972
|
£56.30
|
|
We
saw this basic model several years ago from Old Cars in its original
1968 incarnation. By 1972 the livery
had been changed on this rigid
bodied truck. On the model a small switch underneath releases the
side doors to reveal fold down steps and a work bench, while at the
rear there are vehicle ramps for three race cars served by a two
stage tail lift. It's all a bit plasticky but with some careful detailing
and the addition of some suitable models it will make a great centre
price to a diorama.

Fiat Ferrari Transporter 1976
|
£76.80
|
|
The
articulated truck from 1976 is rather more convincing and will need
much less work. The racking in the rear will take four cars and this
would look really
good if used in conjunction with plenty of tools, a few figures and some Ferrari
312T2 models (though this is a gap in the market at the moment!).
