BRM Story, 4 disc Boxed Set £39.95
From 1947 - 1974 BRM enjoyed mixed fortunes in Formula One. This
set of four films of between 45 and 60 minutes long tells the fascinating
story of the company. Part one tells us of the beginnings of the
company at Raymond Mays' home in Bourne, Lincolnshire, the development
of the 1.5 litre V16 car and the subsequent acquisition of the company
by the Owen Organisation in the early 1950s. Volume two starts with
BRM running a Maserati 250F prior to developing another car of their
own, the P25. As the 1950s went on the early reliability and brake
issues were ironed out and by 1959 the team were winning World Championship
races. Disc three starts with the first mid-engined BRM, the P48,
in 1960 and takes us through Graham Hill's World Championship and
on to the arrival of the promising young Jackie Stewart. The final
episode picks up in the late 1960s, 1966 to be precise, and covers
not only Formula One but also BRM's assaults on the Le Mans 24 Hours.
This disc brings us right up to the end of the BRM GP story finishing
in 1974.
The story is narrated by Neville Hay and the superb period footage,
most of which is in colour, is complemented by interviews with many
of the key figures involved. As BH said when he looked at these
films on VHS several years ago, a great way to while away a cold
winter's Sunday afternoon. For those who are interested in a specific
era only, the discs are available individually.

BTCC Review 2005 - 198 minutes £20.00
The
highly competitive British Touring Car Championship is always spectacular
to watch. This official season review features superbly
edited highlights of every single one of the 30 races, held at
10 meetings over the course of the season. Matt Neal eventually
won the title after 14 years of trying, the first Privateer to
do so since 1991. The combination of reversed grids for the later
races in the day and evenly matched machinery makes for some very
close racing. There are also some very questionable driving techniques
which the crowd seem to enjoy but would not be tolerated in any
other motorsport arena other than banger racing.

FIA Formula One World Champs 2005 £20.00
For
the last few years Ferrari have dominated Formula One but what
goes up, must come down and this season, boy did they come
down with a bump! They had their moments, such as Schumacher
hounding Alonso in the dying stages of the San Marino race and
their 'win' at Indy but the season was really about the battle
of two young chargers, Kimi Raikonnen and Fernando Alonso. The
Renault driver came out on top and became the youngest ever driver
to win the F1 World Championship. It was a well deserved victory,
with some extremely mature drives assisted by excellent reliability.
There was also plenty of controversy during the year and it is
all here in the excellent 220 minute highlights package.

Motorfilms Quarterly Vol.14 £20.00
Motorfilms
Quarterly is always a treat and we expect that Doug Nye and David
Weguelin enjoy selecting the superb archive footage
even more than we do reviewing it. We start this time with a
slightly scratchy film from 1952 including some outrageous camera
locations. Then we have a preview of a feature length documentary
on the career of Prince Bira being prepared by Weguelin, including
an interview with Bira himself. Next up we have another chapter
in the fascinating interview with Bill Boddy covering his running
of Motorsport magazine during WW2. The Rootes Groups archive
has been raided again for a colour film covering the 1960 Acropolis
rally and we finish with another silly film made for the BRSCC
covering the 1967 season. Region 0 - PAL.
