The
latest very limited edition hand built from Retana (only 10 pieces
of each of this range remember) represents the very attractive Porsche
GT1 run by Mike Greasley's G-Force outfit. The overall standard of
finish is very good, with a fine metallic grain to the paint, neatly
applied decals and some good fine p/e details, particularly on the
wheels which look like Renaissance items. The decals are obviously
very thin as the dark blue background is showing through slightly
giving them a greenish hue, rather than being the striking chrome
yellow that we remember from seeing the car in action over here.
It is still a fine model and a rare addition to many collections.
DVA's
deliveries may be somewhat sporadic but there is rarely any question
about the quality of Mr Dolermo's hand built models. Starting
with the Porsche the fit and finish is absolutely superb. The shape
and decoration look excellent, the paint is flawless and the fine
detailing has been very carefully applied. If anything the finish
is far too good! The car is that driven by Siffert & Redman which
sadly retired form the race.
This
is another of those versions of the F40 from DVA that we aren't 100%
sure of the history behind. By 1994 the F40 was well established
so it isn't an early
test car. Most of the photos we have of the earlier cars show them running on
Pirelli or Goodyear tyres, this one is on Yokohamas. Whatever, it is once again
beautifully finished, with flawless paint and exquisite fine detailing, particularly
around the rear wing area.

Most
of the F1 sets among these well printed sheets are simply intended
to complete the liveries on die-casts in the case of the 1:43s, Revell
kits for the 1:24ths and Tamiya kits in 1:20th. The exceptions are
the Anthony Davidson BAR and the Sato Jordan. The former includes
a full livery for the blue test car that he drove in China. Well,
nearly a complete livery, it appears that the tiny stars that were
all over the car are missing. It should still look striking though
and we would build this one on a Silverline kit (TMS015).
Of the non-F1 subjects, the Alesi F40 is a full livery for either
Fujimi or Tamiya with modifications, the 1:24th bike decals are for
the Airfix/Heller kits while the 1:12th ones can be used with slightly
modified Tamiya kits or Minichamps die-casts.
