New 1:24th plastic kits
FUJ03652

Honda Integra Type R Spl Street

£22.75

FUJ03653

Honda Civic Type R Spl Street

£22.75

These two are simple kits with a reasonable level of interior detail. The door panels are moulded with the floor to form a tub which is never the easiest thing to paint, the seats and dashboards are separate, so there is some room to work. The basic shapes looks good and with a decent paint job these should turn out as very nice models.

Honda CRX Del-Sol

£17.55

The Del Sol kit is also very simple and shouldn't take long at all to build. We expect that the most time will be spent preparing the body for paint as although it is moulded in metallic green (hmmm nice) there is a mould release line straight along the centre-line of the car. With this carefully rubbed down it will be ready for paint. We were a little disappointed that the roof panel isn't a separate part but closer inspection and a look at the instructions shows that it is possible to remove this. Also it is interesting to see that the interior is equipped for an automatic transmission car, though that may be standard for the exact model here.

Lamborghini Murcielago 2004 Red

£28.70

FUJ12259

Lamborghini Gallardo Sportec. Photo-etch - ACU24102 & ACU24126

£28.70

Both the Murcielago and Gallardo are getting to be quite familiar sets of parts now from Fujimi. The Murcielago is basically a standard production model and this time we see the main parts moulded in red. The Gallardo is modelled on a car modified by Swiss tuners Sportec and the exterior details are very subtle. We haven't found the technical details for this car, but as the company produce 640 horsepower Porsche GT3s, we expect it's quite impressive!

£24.85

Mini One with roof flag decals. Photo-etch - ACU24110

£23.45

I am starting to feel, as a devotee of the original Mini, that Fujimi are deliberately trying to upset me with all these kits of the BMW 0-series. Much as I detest the subject it is a superb set of basic parts though! Comment has been made before about how well thought out the kit is, the complex interior trim in particular. The main body mouldings are different between these two kits as the basic Mini One doesn't have the vent in the bonnet that is found on the Cooper S. The One kit includes four national flag decals for the roof but strangely these flags do not include the Cross of St George, the Union Jack or Old Glory, all of which are the most commonly fitted ones to Minis real or BMW. What we do get are clearly printed decals for the Italian, German, Mexican and Brazilian ones.
The 'Italian Job' car represents one of the cars used in the entertaining Hollywood thriller which shares its name and those of some of its characters with a classic British movie made in 1969.

Datsun 240Z 1st Safari 71 #11 Shell. Photo-etch -ACU24171 & STUFP2490

£25.50

We've seen the basic parts of this kit before so the well proportioned body shell, chassis and brightwork are all pretty familiar. Additional sprues include the specific details for the Safari rally winning car including all the small grab handles etc. Well detailed though these are, this is a kit that would particularly benefit from the addition of etched parts.

AOS03664

Toyota Celica RAC 1977 #8 1:24

£18.95

AOS03686

Toyota Celica Portugal 1976 #2 1:24. Photo-etch ACU24123

£18.95

These two kits share the same core parts and capture the lines of the RA-20 Celica very well. The main body moulding was originally for a road car kit and for these rally versions there are additional wheel arch extensions etc to add. Using the road car kit as a base also means that there are badges moulded on to the sides of the car and for the 1977 version these were not present so they will have to be carefully sanded off. Otherwise the kit is pretty straightforward. There is a fair level of underside detail moulded on which will come up well with sympathetic painting and the decals are clearly printed. The white parts such as the rally plates have a slight tinge to them which might go once they are removed from the backing paper, or might not. We will be interested to hear from anyone building these kits. A bonus with these kits is that there are plenty of parts that you don't need, such as two alternative styles of wheel, so you'll win a few bits for the spares box.
AOS03631

Kawasaki Zephyr Super 1:12

£18.95

AOS03652

Kawasaki GPZ900R Ninja 1:12

£21.75

These kits are in a range which Aoshima refer to as 'Naked Bike' meaning that they have removable fairings and fully detailed engines. There's plenty in the kit to get your teeth into detail-wise and if you fancy adding a little more than is in the box there is scope. There is a fair amount of duplication of components between sprues as some are obviously used in more than one kit, so pay very close attention to the instructions. The overall standard of moulding is pretty good, they're not quite to Tamiya's standard, but still good enough to make fine models.

HIR24094

Ferrari 312 UK 1969

£178.00

HIR24095

Ferrari 312 Monaco/Spain 1969 . Also available HIR24096 - South Africa & HIR24097 - France

£178.00

The 1969 season was something of a disaster reliability-wise for Ferrari, with Amon failing to finish most of the races he contested in the 312. These kits share similar core parts but there are detail differences, most notable to the aerodynamic additions. These details have been thoughtfully realised and there is a very good level of detail for the engine and chassis. It will be necessary to pay close attention to the instructions to ensure that you use the correct smaller parts and it may also be helpful to have additional reference material to hand, such as the 1969 Autocourse if you are lucky enough to have a copy.

Golden Arrow 1929

£249.95

This numbered hand built from France captures the lines and spirit of the machine with which Henry Seagrave broke the Land Speed Record in 1929. It isn't the most detailed model that we'll ever see, but the standard of finish of what is included is superb, as is the presentation with the model on an inclined steel base. This will make a very impressive piece in any LSR-themed collection.
