The latest in MBI's series of classic boat books shares its format with the Gautet Classic Speedboats series but this time concentrates on the beautiful production boats from the great makers such as Gar Wood, Chris Craft and Hacker. Indy Review vol 10, Complete coverage of the 2000 IRL season - £17.99 (ISBN0760309744) - 900g
This 112 page annual is full of lavishly produced colour. Over half of the book is devoted to the Indy 500 with the full qualifying story, very detailed race report and profiles of each finishing driver and the balance covers the remainder of the IRL season with race reports and detailed race stats. If you are a fan of cars that turn left this is a must, and even if you have a passing interest it is very readable.

Stanguellini by Candini & Manicardi ( Italian text) - £13.99 (ISBNX00000930X) - 600g
Maybe not as famous as Abarth but no less significant, this book tells the story of Vittorio Stanguellini and his company who produced racing cars and tuning parts based ( mostly) on Fiats throughout the 40's, 50's and 60's. If you read Italian this will be absolutely fascinating, if you don't (like us) you will have to make do with the excellent pictures, captions and results tables where you will find names such as Musso, Fangio and Bandini among many others. Some of the subjects in this book are truly beautiful and deserve to be modeled.

The Bluebird Years, Donald Campbell and the pursuit of speed by Arthur Knowles with Graham Beech - £9.95 (ISBN1850587663) - 600g
The bulk of this A5 format paperback was previously published in 1967 as 'With Campbell at Coniston' by the late Arthur Knowles and gives a fascinating first hand account of Campbell's fateful attempt at the outright water speed record. Additional material has been added bringing the story right up to date with the mission to raise Bluebird from her grave, a comprehensive list of waterspeed records, a profile of the Campbell family and their hunger for speed and a list of useful addresses and reference works for those interested in record-breaking on water. Superb value.

History Of The V65 degree Ferrari engine by Ferrari SPA - £20.00 (ISBNX00000927X) - 700g A beautifully produced, glossy if rather shallow history of the 65 degree Vee engine from the 1956 Dino F2 cars, through the Dino road cars up to the 333SP and 550 Maranello. A good introduction to the marque or a nice piece of memorabilia for the devotees. Text in Italian, English, French and German.

Detailed results are included for over 300 races in 19 championships and are illustrated with excellent colour photos showing some spectacular liveries and unusual vehicles, for example we now know that a Renault Megane estate ran in the Danish championship! Many of the photos have not previously been seen and this will be a fantastic present for any Ferrari enthusiast.

Scarab Cars (Unique) - £9.95 (ISBN1841554146) - 400g
A fascinating collection of period articles charting the history of Lance Reventlow's Scarab racing cars. The articles were written by some of the best known reporters of their time and are comprehensively illustrated with photos. The reproduction quality is still not up to the standard of similar compilations by other publishers but has improved. There could be a few new model subjects in this one!

Finnish Grand Prix, 50 Years of Rallying - £25.00 (ISBN9529128924) - 1.3kg
Published to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1000 Lakes Rally this A4 format hard-backed book is a fascinating read. Many of the action packed photos have never been published before and some are quite amazing. There is even photographic evidence that a Goggo 400 will fly!!!! The text is brief but informative with top ten listings for every year and many amusing anecdotes from various competitors over the years. The diversity of machinery that has been used is barely believable and while the book may not be that helpful for model research it is a must for rally fans.

Trans-Am, The Pony Car Wars 1966-1972 by Dave Friedman (Mbi) - £29.99 (ISBN0760309434) -1.8kg
The Trans-American Sedan Series was one of the most colourful and fiercely contested series ever run. This superb volume covers the races, cars and drivers from the first race held at Sebring in 1966 through to end of the 72 season when manufacturer interest was vanishing and things didn't look too bright. The book is packed with race photos, a large number of which are in colour and shows the wonderful diversity of machinery from Minis to Mustangs and will - we hope - prompt some colourful new model subjects to be produced. A leading British classic car magazine has just nominated this publication as their Book of the Month and we can see why.

Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pinifarina by Daniele Cornil - £24.99 (ISBN887960113X) - 1.1kg
Published by Automobilia this book covers the design and development of Ferrari's fastest open topped road car yet produced. The excellent text is in Italian, English and French and there are a wealth of excellent studio photographs and technical drawings.

Dale Earnhardt, The Final Record by John Regruth - £14.99 (ISBN0760309531) - 700g
A thorough statistical review of Earnhardt's 22 seasons in Nascar. There are a few very good colour photos dotted about but unless you are a committed NASCAR or Earnhardt fan you will find it rather soul-less.

Goodwood Festival Of Speed 24-25 June 1995 £15.00

VID623619822 Goodwood Festival Of Speed 21-22-23 June '96 £15.00

In 1993 Charles, Earl of March decided to invite the owners of some of the best vintage machinery to play on the front drive of his home, Goodwood House. This event has rapidly become one of the most important dates in the historic motorsports calendar. These videos capture the unique atmosphere of this wonderful event superbly. The camera work and editing is of the highest quality and the commentary clear and informed. Highlights include Moss and 'Jenks' taking the hill in the 300 SLR to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their historic 1955 Mille Miglia win and John Surtees leading up a collection of classic racing bikes. The overall quality of machinery on display can best be described as 'pornography for petrolheads'! The first tape is only 30mins long but the others are approximately 90mins each and offer great value. Whether you've never been or are feeling nostalgic about previous visits, these tapes are a must.
