le mans 2001
The Le Mans 24-Hours of 2001 was - as we expected - full of surprises and excitement. To our delight both 'new' British teams - Bentley and MG - acquitted themselves well with Bentley starring by taking a well-deserved third overall after a 70-odd year gap in 'works' team participation. As the ACO - organisers of the race are fond of reminding us - 'history is written before your eyes'. It was - and how - and now we await the models with which to have tangible reminders. During the months to come every car will be modelled for GPM. The details of who is making what for us are detailed below. We hope that you will indicate the ones you want early so that we can help the manufacturers assess just how many to make of each. 'The GPM' car - the one carrying our/your hopes and decals was no. 71 but sadly - like so many others - it was caught out in one of the deluges - hit the barrrier and although Robin Donovan limped it back to the pits the damage was too severe to allow it to continue. We'll be back next year......... In the meantime we have negotiated a special price for our fully paid-up subscribers for helping to sponsor this car and can offer you the kit of this car at a very special price of 20.00 GBP if you order before the 31st July 2001. (Delivery date not yet known.)
BBR will make kits and hand-builts of the Audi R8s only.* at press time Renaissance announced that they will model the Bentleys - ref - RENI065.
