It may
have been a long time coming but at last we have Tameo's latest year
2000 F1 car. The kit is - as ever - absolutely superb with fine metal
castings, excellent p/e and instructions that are a lesson to all
manufacturers. The instructions suggest several options for colour
to match the nearly flourescent yellow colour and GPM can supply pre-painted
kits if you wish for £59. Unfortunately at present it looks as though
- due to licensing - the kit builder's grid will be restricted to
the two teams at the front and this heroic teams efforts.

|
| With
a reduced number of current F1 subjects available to model, the talented
team at Tameo are turning their attention to more historic but probably
more significant subjects. This they have done with great style this
month to model the white Martini sponsored Brabham Ford which brought
Carlos Reuteman his only win of a disappointing 1975 season at the
Nurburgring and his team mate - Ôthe other Carlos' Pace - his maiden
victory in front of his home crowd in Brazil. It almost goes without
saying that the kit is beautifully cast with a wealth of fine detail,
both metal and photo-etched. With the excellent computer-generated
full colour instructions this will be a joy to build for the newcomer
or expert alike. The championship winning Ferrari is one of the few
current F1 cars that can be made so Tameo are making sure we get plenty
of options! Made to their usual exacting standards this set of parts
is similar to the usual 1:43rd kits only bigger. This does mean that
there is less p/e as many of the smaller components such as suspension
arms can be cast accurately in 1:24th but not in 1:43rd. The instructions
include excellent close up photos of the real car and will allow a
brilliant model to be built. |

| Gamma's latest release is a finely cast resin kit of the Sebring 12hrs winner of 1957 as driven by Fangio and Behra. Great attention has been paid to the fine details on this kit with fine p/e included for many features including supports for the side exit exhausts. The kit checks out pretty well against race photos except that we're not sure that the rear wing line is quite aggressive enough. From the angle of our photos it is hard to tell. Whatever - the kit will build with relative ease and should look very handsome when finished. It's good to have a new classic race-winning Maserati to add to the great marques race winners theme. |

Two
years ago Feeling 43 released a high detail transkit for the Le Phoenix
D- type Jaguar. The base kit was almost immediately deleted and many
modellers missed out! Now F43 have re-designed the parts for use with
the recently released SMTS kit. Included is a mixture of resin, white
metal and p/e parts to enable the - experienced - modeler to build
a very high detail miniature complete with opening doors, bonnet and
boot and full engine detail. The parts are well made and with the
excellent instructions the results should be stunning - indeed what
you get here is almost a completely new kit! Latest in F43's amazing
full superdetail kits is the beautiful, class winning Maserati A6GCS
of Estager and Proto from the fourth running of the Tour de France.
The level of detail included is breathtaking and will keep the serious
modeller out of mischief for many a happy evening! Beginning from
a cast brass chassis, a wealth of white metal, resin and p/e parts
enable you to build up a fully detailed, accurate looking model with
opening bonnet, full engine, full suspension and transmission and
removable body. We can't wait to see the built model as pictured within
Models of the Month and on our cover - it's stupendous! This model
was featured in colour on the back cover of FSW 4/2001

| A beautifully cast
and accurate metal kit with a fine level of interior detail. Great
attention to detail has been paid, right down to decals for the race
tape sealing the driver's door. The car was driven by Castellotti
who won by nearly 8 minutes from Peter Collins' Ferrari Monza in dreadful
wet conditions. |

| A reasonably well made miniature of the outrageous ex-works car driven by Ted Field and Danny Ongais in the Daytona 24hrs. This silver car had the Martini sponsorship painted out in black and therefore makes a visually interesting subject. The paint on our review sample had a few blemishes which is unusual for this maker but the assembly and detailing has been well done. |
