New 1:24th decal set for Hasegawa + 1:43rd applications

QRT24001

VW Transporter 1967 race team decals-12 vehicles!

£10.95

These decals offer some of the best value we think we have ever seen. Using the two large, very well printed (by UMI) decal sheets there are instructions for 17 different liveries representing 10 sponsors. Of these there are enough decals to make as many as 12 complete models from 1 pack! Subjects include Porsche and Auto Union (Audi/NSU) factory support, John Wyer racing, Bosch, VW parts as well as various tyre and oil companies. The decals are intended for Hasegawa's VW Transporter and Pickup kits and will add interest to Le Mans or other racing dioramas. The excellent logos could also be used as 1:43rd track-side banners or on other vehicles, not just 1:24th. We've never given Model of the Month to a decal set before but we have now!

Profil have captured the shape of the gorgeous Costin-designed Elite beautifully in their latest resin kits.
Some of the smaller parts will need a little clean-up before assembly - but nothing serious - and the wire wheels are of the p/e kit variety. The versions available from the kits are the green #42 Border Reivers car of Clark and Whitmore from 1959, the blue #44 class winner of Masson and Laurent from 1960, the similarly coloured Ecurie Edgar machine of Kosselek and Massenaz, and the class-winning white and green factory cars crewed by Allen and Taylor in '61 and Hobbs and Gardner in '62. The excellent instructions show that on some versions the bonnet NACA duct should be filled and these have been filled on the relevant painted kits, unfortunately the scoop on the 1961 works car should be open but the white painted kit has it filled. The paint finishes on the painted kits have some minor blemishes but most of these will polish out, though our white sample had very flat paint on the rear. Dashboards for both left and right hand drive are included along with two seats so a road car could also be built if you wish. The unpainted kit is one of our Models of the Month.

MRC094M

Porsche 959 Le Mans 1985 built

£113.10

A finely detailed and accurate model of the 7th placed plain white works 959 driven by Metge and Ballot-Lena. As ever with MR the fine details have been beautifully applied but very unusually our sample model has a slightly heavy lacquer coat. We are sure this is an isolated problem as the finish on this range is usually flawless. There's an excellent photo of this super model within our colour pages.

Many years ago we ( well BH! ) issued a challenge to PM saying nobody would be able to model the amazing Carrera Panamericana Lincoln Cadillac. They proved us wrong and to remind us have now (prompted by public demand) re-issued the kit. This outrageous machine used a variety of Ford, Lincoln and Cadillac parts and was fitted with the canopy from an American Harvard aircraft! The 908, BMW 320 and Ford Torino were all previously released as Starter kits and are now offered with re-printed decals, new vac-forms and much improved instructions. Up-to-date releases include the beautiful Gulf sponsored Audi which finished 4th at Sebring and is running strongly in the ALMS series, this car stands a realistic chance of outright victory at Le Mans. From Daytona we have the black Texaco and History Channel sponsored Porsche GT1 which was - we think - driven by Paul Newman. The car didn't feature well enough to be included in any of the race reports we have and the decals are - unusually for PM - not clear enough to read the driver's names. The rally cars all appear accurate though we find it very strange that decals are only included for the highest placed drivers. Puras led the early stages in Spain but is not included on the Citroen sheet, neither reigning champion Gronholm nor the spectacular Panizzi are included in the Peugeot and British modellers in particular will notice the absence of McRae from the Focus kit. This is a very bizarre piece of policy from PM and one we totally fail to understand or appreciate.
