All
of these are re-issues of PM's excellent kits. The only differences
we can see are the addition of a large colour laser copy to aid decal
placement and paint is included with the Jaguar. These will build
with ease to look superb though there is a question over the colours
in the Jaguar. The paint supplied looks too light in colour but it
may dry a slightly darker shade. Warwick and Brundle won the Monza
round of the WSC with Fabi (also sharing with Brundle) finishing second,
Fabi went on to win the Championship for Jaguar.

|
| Both
Mazdas retired with transmission failure, the #170 car of Dieudonne,
Kennedy and Galvin after 11 hours and Katayama, Terada and Yorino's
#171 after just 5 hours. The Peugeot kit offers the winning car of
Warwick, Dalmas and Blundell , the 3rd placed machine of Baldi, Alliot
and Jabouille and the #31 non finisher of Ferté, Wendlinger
and van de Poele. |

| The tiger decorated M1 has to be one
of the most spectacular liveries ever to race. At first glance this
model looks stunning and is very well built. Unfortunately - to our
eyes anyway - some of the realism is taken away by the slightly heavy
paint and lacquer which has all but hidden some of the panel lines. |
 |
| Had
these been better this would have definitely been one of our Models
of the Month but misses out this time. It still looks great though
- see colour shot elsewhere. The decal set for the Macau BMW is superbly
printed and can be used on either a diecast or perhaps BBR kit. The
livery is simple but attractive in red and white and either of the
E36 320s of Kwan or Chan can be made. |

| When we reviewed the kit of this model
in 4/2001 we felt it was excellent except for the instructions. The
good people at Gamma obviously know which parts are which as this
is beautiful. The black paint is smoothly applied, the interior realistically
detailed and the fine p/e parts very carefully fitted. The model is
smartly presented on a wood base, in the now familiar wooden 'cigar'
box with an etched Alfa Romeo script on the lid. |

Superbly finished
hand-builts of the famous white Martini sponsored Le Mans winner and
the very similar car from the Osterreichring 1000kms. We cannot find
fault with the Le Mans car but there is a slight decalling error on
the Austrian car. There are a number of small suppliers logos along
the sill panel (Bosch, Firestone etc) and these decals have been applied
to the wrong sides of the car.
|

|
|
You have to look closely to see
this and we hope it is an isolated error. In the race the car was
fighting for the lead when it was sidelined by a puncture. Also of
historical interest - this car tested an anti-lock braking system
during practice though the drivers opted not to run it in the race. |

Ferrari 512BB Monza /LM 1980
#31/79 |
£31.50
|
|
| A superbly detailed kit of the Bellancauto
entered 512BB long tail that offers a choice of three decal options.
The excellent decal sheet will allow either the Monza 1000kms, |
 |
| Le Mans pre-qualifiying
or Le Mans race versions to be made, unfortunately the instructions
only refer to the LM cars! The main kit consists of a well cast resin
body, resin base plate with integral engine block and a wealth of
small resin and metal parts for the interior and engine compartment.
The vac-formed windows have very few blemishes, fine p/e details are
included for grilles and window frames, the seat belts are precut
fabric tape and there is even a small piece of metal foil for the
rear wing. This should be an enjoyable build of an attractive - if
unsuccessful - subject. |

Ferrari 512BB Le Mans 78 #85
Cogiroute |
£49.65

|
| Using Tron's excellent resin kit as
a base, LMC have modelled the yellow and black Cogiroute 512 superbly.
The painted body has a reasonable yellow paint finish which may benefit
from a good polish. |
 |
| The black lower body will
need painting as will the spoilers which are cast as separate pieces.
The instructions clearly list all colours in Italian, English and
French, which will certainly make life easier. Two colour photos are
included to use as guide to decal placement etc. Please note only
50 examples of this kit have been made and we are not sure whether
we will be able to get any more once our initial stock is sold. |
