Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Also available BRK43251 - kit
Searching for information on the subject of this model has raised a number of questions about its provenance. It would appear that Ghia built two very similar coupes on Cadillac 62 chassis in 1953 and it is rumoured that one was commissioned by the Aga Khan as a gift for his then wife Rita Hayworth. Whether Hayworth ever actually took delivery of the car is unknown as she had filed for divorce in 1951 and this was completed early in 1953. Both of the Ghia cars still exist in American museums, one (finished in burgundy with chrome trim) in the Petersen Collection and the other, this black and gold car, is in the Imperial Palace collection in Las Vegas but it is the former which is now being lauded as the Hayworth car. To add to the fun, both cars have been restored at some point and the colours have changed! So, we have a restored car which may or not have been owned by one of Hollywood's most famous names at some point and as such the model is very good. The proportions match photos, the paint finish is excellent and the small trim details are neatly applied, though the side trims should not have the linking piece at the front. Still, an attractive model of an interesting subject.
