Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Toyota Celica 1st Safari 1985 Accessory set available AOS08457 etched parts Toyota’s rear wheel drive, live axle equipped Celica was somewhat outdated by Group B standards and struggled on European events, but its immense strength and healthy power output saw it win several times on African events. Here we see the car from its first Safari outing when Kankunnen swept all before him. The kit design is interesting as there is plenty of chassis detail with full suspension and we see the gearbox and sump moulded into the base plate. The bonnet is a separate piece and in the engine bay there are detailed strut towers and parts to add in a radiator and intercooler, but rather bizarrely, no engine? The coolers will be visible through the outer grilles and the underside of the engine bay covered with sump guards (enhanced parts for both included in the etched set) so it won’t be obvious once everything is fixed, but it is a strange omission.
Reasonably well detailed plastic kits with a small amount of photo-etch included. Instructions in Japanese only. Made in Japan.
