ABC Brianza - Ferrari 212 Export Fontana 1:43 model
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Ferrari 212 Export Fontana 1951 Hand built available ABC289 The chassis beneath this unusual spider body had an interesting early history. It was supplied to the Marzotto brothers as a bare chassis in 1951 and they had Fontana fit the ‘Sicilian cart’ body, the car winning the Targa Florio that year. It was then briefly fitted with a Vignale spider body which was replaced with a station wagon, again by Fontana. The Marzottos must have been among Fontana’s best clients as he then created a spider body over the winter of 1951/52 and that was replaced by this style in August 1952! The photos on ABC’s instructions show the car mostly stripped back to bare metal during restoration and this would be an interesting way to model it, although if you did choose this option the very fine multi-piece etched grille will be wasted. The car has been completed and is now a deep red and if going this route a few modifications will be needed to recess a license plate into the centre of the tail and add some lights either side.
