Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Lohner-Porsche 1901 Hybrids are all the rage these days as manufacturers strive to achieve the best performance and economy possible, but this subject proves once again that very little is new where the motor industry is concerned! Ferdinand Porsche was in his early 20s when he designed the first petrol-electric series hybrid for Jacob Lohnerís Viennese coachbuilding company. There were numerous variants with two and four hub-mounted motors and the 1901 example modelled here for the Porsche Museum collection is a front wheel drive one with an unusual open four seater coachwork which sees the rear seats facing in at an angle to each other. The body detailing is generally fine, the mudguards being particularly delicate and the model will make a very significant addition to any Porsche related collection.
