The Mercedes 260D was one of two diesel engined passenger cars (the other a Hanomag) launched at the 1936 Berlin motor show, the first commercially available diesel cars. Several body styles were available and approximately 2,000 were built between 1936 and 1940. The car modelled has a two section opening roof and our black sample has the rear portion open. The basic shape of the car looks good and the overall finish of the model is to a high standard. The detailing is of a more traditional diecast style, so we see plenty of moulded plated parts including the handle for that open roof.
