Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Bentley Corniche 6th Le Mans 1949 #6 Kit available GCAM43040 Originally built for Greek shipping magnate André Embiricos who took delivery in 1938, this unique Portout-bodied Bentley was sold to HSF Hay in 1939. Hay used the car extensively on the road and by the time he entered it for the first post-war Le Mans race it had 60,000 miles on the clock. By the time Hay and the car started their third Le Mans race, that figure had doubled and post-race he loaded the family on board for a touring holiday of Europe! The car was basically unchanged for all three races, just subtle trim differences on the side vents, and GCAM’s kit does a pretty good job of capturing the body shape. The finish on the hand builts is very good and they are painted in a pale champagne colour. All photos that we’ve seen of the real car suggest that it is a purer silver, but as the models look silver in photos, maybe it’s a trick of the light? Nicely done and very limited in numbers.
