Books - Donald Campbell Bluebird And The Final Record Attempt (Author: Sheppard)
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine There are many theories as to what caused Donald Campbell’s fatal crash on Coniston Water in January 1967 and this very well researched account looks at all of them and draws a few conclusions of its own. The text tells us of the complete history of the project, and a little of the man behind it and his other ambitions, and draws on first hand accounts from many people who were present and involved. What is really impressive is the level of photo-research as well. The record attempts were covered by several newspapers and freelance journalists and the author has been into all of these archives and come up with a fantastic selection of images that cover everything from assembly of the boat in Portsmouth to the accident itself. A must for serious speed record followers.
