Books - The Spa 24 Hours, A History (Author: Blumlein
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine The Spa 24 Hours, A History Weight 1.6kg by David Blumlein The Spa 24 Hours first took place in 1924 and in its 90th anniversary year this is only the second history of the event that we’re aware of and is the first in English. Initially the race mirrored Le Mans but the event really took off in the early 1960s when it became a touring car event. With changing regulations grids started to dwindle in the late 1990s and the next chapter in the story came when the organisers decided to switch to GTs instead and the event has gone from strength to strength since. The stories of each race are lavishly illustrated with carefully selected photographs from many sources and the subjects chosen are often the lesser seen machines that make up the rich variety of the event. The results sections generally concentrate on top 15s and the class winners and overall it is a very interesting account of an event much neglected by historians.
Over the years we have created a library here at GPM and many collectors regularly ask us which books we use most and which are the most reliable source of information. We offer quality titles selected for their reference material content.
