Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine McLaren M23 Manual weight 1kg by Ian Wagstaff Whoever it was at Haynes Publishing who came up with the idea for these guides to iconic machinery was onto a very good thing. The latest looks at one of the most numerous F1 chassis designs which had a five year World Championship career in factory and privateer hands, winning two titles along the way for Fittipaldi and Hunt, was as competitive in national F1 for several years and even appeared in the reborn Can-Am series. Very few of us will be lucky enough to get hands on with the real thing but this superbly thought out book shows us plenty about the chassis design and construction, engine components, suspension detail and bodywork developments. The images used are a mix of period shots from the cars being built and raced and many more from recent restorations. There’s plenty of behind the scenes material from the Ron Howard movie Rush and this helps us get close up to many of the cars they used, real and fake. There are also brief histories of each individual chassis and here we see some interesting variants for modellers.
Over the years we have created a library here at GPM and many collectors regularly ask us which books we use most and which are the most reliable source of information. We offer quality titles selected for their reference material content.
