Books - Vitesse-Elegance, French Expression of Flight and Motion (Author: Furman)
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Produced by the team at the Mullin Automotive Museum in California this superbly illustrated tome uses the museumís exhibits to highlight some of the more interesting and adventurous pieces of automotive design to come out of France in the pre-war era. Previous Mullin books have concentrated on the flamboyant coachworks and while one or two of these cars (such as the Dubonnet Xenia & DarlíMat Peugeots) appear the main focus is on technology and advances in design. Voisin was one of the more eccentric designers of the time and his cars feature heavily, as do Renaults, Peugeots, Hispano Suiza, Bucciali, Panhard et Levassor, Lorraine Dietrich and many more. There is also a section on the rise of small vehicles with some interesting motorcycles and cycle cars and we look at the general design trends of the Art Deco period and the work of Lalique and le Corbusier. A fascinating and beautiful book.
Over the years we have created a library here at GPM and many collectors regularly ask us which books we use most and which are the most reliable source of information. We offer quality titles selected for their reference material content.
