Books - Le Mans `55, The Crash That Changed the Race of Motor Racing (Authors: Hilton)
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine The author of this account of the disastrous Le Mans race of 1955 is best known for his biographies of many of the great names of motor racing but this is something quite different. It is clear that a great deal of research has gone into putting this book together as he draws on eye witness accounts from many spectators and other competitors and also the official enquiry into the events of that June weekend. Over the years the blame has been lain on many individuals, not least the unfortunate Levegh who was unable to defend his name and here the author attempts to analyse all theories and there appear to be flaws in all. A very interesting and thought provoking study of a difficult subject.
Over the years we have created a library here at GPM and many collectors regularly ask us which books we use most and which are the most reliable source of information. We offer quality titles selected for their reference material content.
