Books - Inside the Paddock, Racing Car Transporters at Work (Authors: Cross, Kjer)
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Weíve been aware that a book on motor racing transporters was in progress for quite some time and were interested to see what the end result of David Cross and Bjorn Kjerís research would be. Pretty good is the answer. Itís a difficult subject to approach as there is no clear lineage, with bespoke vehicles and random vans and trailers being common from the early days of racing through until relatively recently even with professional teams. The authors have decided to go alphabetically by team and then chronologically within those small chapters where necessary. The modern trucks are very formulaic and we donít see too many but what we do get are plenty of the conversions and coachbuilt solutions that were particularly prevalent in the fifties, sixties and seventies, machines like the famous Ecurie Ecosse Commer and Ferrariís Bartolettis. Thereís plenty more aside and many of the photos are previously unpublished.
Over the years we have created a library here at GPM and many collectors regularly ask us which books we use most and which are the most reliable source of information. We offer quality titles selected for their reference material content.
