Books - La Courte Histoire De La Formule 2 1000cc 1964-1966 (Author: Naviaux)
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine weight 1kg by Christian Naviaux
As the title might suggest, this history of the short lived 1-litre Formula 2 is in French and as it is largely text based, some knowledge of the language will be a great help. The category only ran for two years and this is a pretty thorough history with race reports from all major events complete with detailed results and a selection of race photographs. We start with an introduction to the machinery with brief details and photos of each car type entered, with cars from Abarth, Alpine, de Tomaso, Gordini, Lotus and Cooper among others and also a look at the engines which powered them, the latter list being a little shorter with Cosworth-Ford units dominating and a few Gordini-Renault and Fiat based units adding some spice. Looking through the results we see plenty of names who went on to bigger things such as Brabham, Ickx, Beltoise, Clark, Rindt and Regazzoni to name a few. Interesting stuff a little away from the mainstream and very useful to the historian, though from a modellers perspective there are very few reference pictures. FRENCH TEXT.
