Books - Porsche 917/021, The Fabulous Story (Author: Breuer)
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Porsche 917/021, The fabulous Story weight 3kg by Jacques Breuer & Raymond Collignon Vincent Gaye first saw the Porsche 917 at his home track, Spa in 1969 and had dreamed of owning one ever since. In 2008 that dream became reality when he bought chassis 917/21 but it quickly became apparent that the car would need a complete restoration. It was decided that while the car was being painstakingly rebuilt that its full history would be researched and this lavishly produced book is the result. As with many old racing cars there is a certain amount of woodman’s axe in the story, and the histories of chassis 012 and 021 have crossed and re-crossed over the years. The chassis number has appeared on cars in various forms from the original 1969 design, on to a traditional 1970 short tail, then it became Siffert’s Can-Am spider, before being returned to coupe form and being road registered in the mid-1970s! Now the car is back in pure race trim and much of the book is given over to an extremely thorough photographic record of the rebuild. If you’re planning on building a high detail 917 model, this stunning book is an absolute must!
