Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Targa Florio 1955-1973 Weight 4.3kg by Ed Heuvink & Bernard Cahier Bernard Cahier was connected with the Targa Florio as both a photo journalist and photographer, while for Ed Heuvink it was simply a fascination in period which saw him taking part as a co-driver in historic events in later years. The two had often talked of working together on a book but Cahier sadly passed away before they could make a start. Soon after, Cahierís son approached Heuvink and the pair worked together using the formerís extensive photo archive and that of the McKlein photo collective to create this massive tome. It is a photographic appreciation rather than a pure history and the first three quarters of the book takes us alphabetically through many of the marques which took part and also behind the scenes and helps us enjoy the atmosphere. One randomly opened page was C for Children, which featured charming images of the younger locals watching in fascination as the cars thunder past. The last quarter features brief race reports from each running of the race in the years covered and we finish off with top ten finisher lists from each race. Really itís all about the photos and there are some stunning images including lots of rare early colour.
Over the years we have created a library here at GPM and many collectors regularly ask us which books we use most and which are the most reliable source of information. We offer quality titles selected for their reference material content.
