Books - Racing At Solitude 1949-1965, The Competition Cars (Author: Mehne)
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine In his forward to this fascinating slip-cased volume, Chris Amon likens the Solitude circuit in the suburbs of Stuttgart to the far more famous venues of Spa and the Nurburgring as one of the most challenging, satisfying and, with hindsight, dangerous courses to master. In the early post war era it paid host to many and varied events and this book seeks to illustrate as many of the cars that took part as possible. Itís a fantastic effort with a huge number of images, some a little grainy and others in glorious colour. The main text is offered in German, English, French and Italian, with the picture captions in English. Yes, it is expensive but it is also very beautiful and each cloth bound volume is individually numbered from a print run of just 1200.
