Books - Porsche Turbo, The Inside Story of Stuttgart`s Turbocharged Road and Race Cars (Author: Leffingwell
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Porsche Turbo, The Inside Story Weight 2.2kg by Randy Leffingwell According to the engineers responsible, Porsche had started development of turbocharged racing engines in secrecy back in 1968 but it was in 1972 that the 917/10 first rolled out in a Can-Am race and publicly demonstrated what could be done. The 911-based RSR followed and with that Porscheís first turbocharged road car, the 930. With information from those involved and access to the Porsche archives this well illustrated volume tells the story of both road and race cars from the first experiments to the present day. With so much to cover the detail on some types is a little less than we would expect, but there is huge variety including aero and marine engines. Donít be put off by the very inaccurate introduction on the fly leaf!
