Books - Alfa Romeo, The Magnificent Monopostos (Author: Moore)
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Alfa Romeo, The Magnificent Monopostos Weight 6.5kg By Simon Moore Good things come to those who wait and the third part of Simon Moore’s exhaustive history of the great Alfa Romeos has been many years in gestation. As with his previous publications, The Immortal 2.9 and The Legendary 2.3, this is a work of exhaustive research. The original plan was to cover the cars of the 1930s only, but photographs were uncovered of earlier machines and Moore was persuaded by his publisher to extend the story from 1923 through to 1951. The end result is a hefty two-volume, slip-cased treasure, packed with some 1140 photographs which show the cars throughout their lives, there are even pre-war colour images. Volume one sees us through the racing seasons from 1923 through to 1935 and includes individual chassis histories for all of the B Types and the Bi-Motore. For volume two we continue from the 1936 season and the C Types, 308s, Alfettas and various Indycars and specials are examined, along with a section on powerboats using Alfa engines and finally a few mysteries. Simply brilliant!
Over the years we have created a library here at GPM and many collectors regularly ask us which books we use most and which are the most reliable source of information. We offer quality titles selected for their reference material content.
