Fiat 806 F1 1927 1:12 by Italeri
Fiat 806 F1 1:12
Following the success of their Mefistofele kit, Italeri now present us with another high detail Fiat racer. The 806 was revolutionary in its mounting of twelve-cylinder engine slung low between the chassis rails and it’s with those main rails that the build starts. The engine is described as a V12 but was two blocks mounted side by side with the cranks geared together and in the kit there are separate blocks to be assembled onto the crankcase, which adds plenty of scope for detail painting. The tyres have been borrowed from the Mefistofele and are moulded with Dunlop markings which must be trimmed and sanded off before applying new Pirelli decals. This looks fiddly but the kit is designed for the skilled modeller so for those with more talent than I (not difficult!), it will just add to the fun.
