J-F B Models - Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage 1:43 model
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Maserati Birdcage LA Times 1960 #48 Connor Chassis 2452 was the first Tipo 61 Birdcage built and was delivered to its first owner, Joe Lubin in 1959. Over the following years it raced extensively up and down the west coast of America under four different owners employing six drivers between them. Stan Sugarman was the second owner and under his tenure the car was painted red with white stripes and Bob Drake, Jim Connor and Jim Hall won seven races between them in 1960. We see the car modelled as Connor drove it in the LA Times GP at Riverside, curiously a race that he did not finish but one for which there are plenty of photos. The reason that the Riverside races have been chosen for the models is the availability of race photos and these superbly finished hand builts check out well with these. The models are mastered by Patrick Cornu (ex-Provence Moulage) and the chassis detailing in the cockpit is very finely done. All are interesting variants with precise liveries that we donít recall seeing previously and we look forward to the next releases in this range.
