Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine This model depicts possibly one of the most significant cars in the history of motor racing as Swiss engineer Michael May arrived at the Nurburgring for the 1000kms race in 1956 with a large adjustable aerofoil section mounted on top of it. In practice the 22 year old qualified an incredible fourth overall, ahead of all of the works Porsches and it was the Porsche team who led the protests which saw the car disqualified from using the wing on the grounds that impaired visibility for cars running behind. As modelled it would certainly impair vision as the wing is mounted a little low. The mountings are also slightly oversimplified as the wing was fitted with a similar manual angle adjustment as Jim Hall used with great success on his Chaparral a decade or so later. Not perfect but a very interesting and important subject.
