Jolly Model - Tec-Mec Maserati-Chevrolet Scaglietti 1:43 model
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Tec-Mec Maserati-Chevy New Zealand 1962 Coppins Alternative version JOL6012 Agadir & JOL6013 Argentina Although based on a Ferrari 375 GP machine, this enclosed Scaglietti-bodied machine was raced in sports car events by Louis Rosier during 1954, finishing seventh in the Buenos Aires 1000kms and fourth around the streets of Agadir in Morocco. For these races the car was fitted with a small regulation passenger seat tucked away to the side of the driver and this detail is missing from the models. The shape is otherwise reasonable and the decal placement matches period photos. The big error on the Rod Coppins New Zealand race version is in Jolly Modelís description. They still describe it as the Ferrari but although Coppinsí car was clothed in the body of Rosierís 375, beneath lay the chassis of the Tec-Mec Maserati with a Chevrolet engine fitted. In its first outing the car was still blue but then repainted in black. The decoration is correct for the Wiamate race weekend in February 1962, but the car was soon rebodied again as an open wheeler, making this a very rare subject.
