Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Mike Hawthorn had achieved almost instant stardom on his first outing at Goodwood for the 1952 Lavant Cup and he further raised his stock at Boreham a few weeks later, leading the factory F1 Ferraris in the rain in his F2 Cooper, pulling away at some five seconds a lap before the rain stopped and the more powerful cars got back past on the drying track. This drive brought the young man to the attention of Ferrari and he had a works contract by the end of the year. In that first Goodwood race Hawthorn had been followed home by the two Ecurie Richmond cars of Alan Brown and Eric Brandon and Browns performances and patronage of Cooper saw him with a works car for the Argentinean GP the following year. The kits are all well cast and with cast wheels there are no fiddly etched spokes to worry about. The Ecurie Richmond cars from the Lavant Cup will need a fine nose band painting on each of them but thatís as tricky as it gets.
About K & R Replicas
Well cast, if rather crude, metal kits. Usually accurate though occasionally a bit odd. Wire wheels of the self - assembly type. Decals, when included, often slightly yellow (typical of many English makers) but will bleach with exposure to u.v. light. Now including a little more photo-etch. Made in England.
