Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Austin Healey Sprite Sebring 4 Hours 1961 There were nine Sprites entered in the 1960 Sebring 4 Hour race for under 1 litre sports cars, four of which were factory entries and this kit offers a choice from that quartet. Drivers included Walt Hansgen, Bruce McLaren, Jim Thompson and Briggs Cunningham so they were taking it seriously, scooped third, fourth, sixth and eighth places! We’ve seen K&R’s Sprite many times before and the basic shape of the car is pretty good, though as usual care will be needed with the fitting of the roof and windscreen. Two roofs are included as Hansgen’s third placed car had a hardtop fitted while the rest ran with soft tops raised and it is the McLaren car that is illustrated on the instructions. The decals include road number plates but no clue as to which belongs to which car.
About K & R Replicas
Well cast, if rather crude, metal kits. Usually accurate though occasionally a bit odd. Wire wheels of the self - assembly type. Decals, when included, often slightly yellow (typical of many English makers) but will bleach with exposure to u.v. light. Now including a little more photo-etch. Made in England.
