Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Ferrari 250 GTO Prototype Monza 1961 #T Kit available MGMGTO014 Based on a modified 250SWB chassis, this original prototype for the 250GTO first ran at Monza a few days before the Italian Grand Prix and was quick straight off, but suffered with high speed stability. The solution was the addition of crude screwed on body extensions on the rear corners and it is in this later form that we see the car modelled. Pretty it was not and was dubbed ‘il Monstro’ by the team. The original finish was bare aluminium complete with panel beaters’ hammer marks and both the roughness of the surface and the shape are sympathetically modelled, although a matt finish would have been even better.
