Minichamps - Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior 1:18 model
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Alfa Romeo GTA Junior Paul Ricard 1971 Although the race is often referred to as the Paul Ricard 24 Hours, the ETC round in 1971 was actually two six hour races on consecutive days. This 1300cc Alfa was at the sharp end of its group and in heat one classified second of the 1300s, despite failing to finish with a broken throttle. It did survive race two to take a class win and in the aggregate scoring was classified seventh overall and quickest category winner. Minichamps’ model captures the overall shape of the car well and as usual for their 1:18 offerings there are many opening parts. Working from the back we find plumbing and a quick filler for the under floor fuel tank, the cockpit features a neat roll cage and bucket seats, with a harness on the driver’s side only, while under the bonnet we find a decent representation of the fuel injected, twin-cam engine.
One of the market leaders in die-cast models. Good shapes, excellent paint and decoration. 1:43rds are kerbside while 1:18ths usually have plenty of opening parts and detail. Also an increasing number of 1:43 resincast models. Made in China.
