Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Buick Wildcat 1 1953 Although this concept was a part of GM’s 1953 Motorama, the model is not in Minichamps’ range celebrating this roadshow, but in a new series of concept cars as they have survived in the collection of Joseph E Bortz. Novel features on the car included hubcaps which were designed to remain static as the car was moving and feed cooling air to the brakes, only 50 years before Rolls Royce did something similar to keep their badge the right way up! Many of the styling cues found their way onto subsequent GM products, so it doesn’t look that revolutionary in hindsight but would have really cut a dash at the time. The shape is smartly replicated, the colours carefully chosen and the overall level of finish is excellent.
One of the market leaders in die-cast models. Good shapes, excellent paint and decoration. 1:43rds are kerbside while 1:18ths usually have plenty of opening parts and detail. Also an increasing number of 1:43 resincast models. Made in China.
