McLaren M20 1st Can-Am 1974 #8 Patrick by Marsh Models
McLaren M20 Elkhart Lake 1974 #8 Patrick
Kit available MM254
This privately entered, two year old McLaren holds a very important place in the history of Can-Am as the Elkhart Lake race in August 1974 was the last of the ‘proper’ Can-Am races and Scooter Patrick won. The kit parts are well thought out, with the lower side panels which are to be painted matt black supplied as separate castings and plenty of etch for the ducting to the side mounted radiators. On the nose there is a small lump which the instructions say should be body coloured but matt and looking at race photos this appears to be an improvised air intake, perhaps to cool the driver, so we’d be inclined to open the front of it up before painting. The hand built is very well finished with that matt panel neatly masked and all of the decals carefully placed.

About Marsh Models
Well established maker of high quality 1:43 kits and hand-built models. Kits feature very precisely moulded resin bodies requiring minimal clean up, equally good white metal ancillary parts, very fine photo-etching where necessary, machined wheel rims, bespoke resin tyres and clearly printed decals. Instructions usually a clearly drawn exploded diagram and often include a sample paint chip if the main body colour is an unusual one. Hand-builts beautifully built and detailed, usually from a series of 100 pieces but LE range typically from only 25. Made in England
