Jaguar D Type USA 1956/1958/1961
Hand built available MM263M41 Bennett MM263M100 Seher & MM263M17D Brennan
We tend to think of British Racing Green or Ecurie Ecosse Blue but roughly two thirds of the cars built were customer cars, many of which went across the Atlantic and were painted in a rich tapestry of colours. Three such examples are seen here and although all have the same basic short-nose body configuration they were all different chassis numbers. John Gordon-Bennet drove chassis XKD525 to sixth place at Beverly, the black car entered by Briggs Cunningham. Ray Seher was the owner and driver of the bright yellow #100 machine and was classified eighth at Laguna Seca. Merle Brennan’s red car from Reno throws up a question. Marsh Models have interpreted the photos as the car being numbered 17D but the very roughly painted numbers on the car look to us to say 170 and there is a small letter ‘c’ class marking above and behind which is missed on the model. They are otherwise superbly finished models and kit builders could adjust this detail if they so wish.

About Marsh Models
Well established maker of high quality 1:43 kits and hand-built models. Kits feature very precisely moulded resin bodies requiring minimal clean up, equally good white metal ancillary parts, very fine photo-etching where necessary, machined wheel rims, bespoke resin tyres and clearly printed decals. Instructions usually a clearly drawn exploded diagram and often include a sample paint chip if the main body colour is an unusual one. Hand-builts beautifully built and detailed, usually from a series of 100 pieces but LE range typically from only 25. Made in England
