Marsh Models DecoArt - Delage D8-120 De Villars 1:43 model
Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Hand builts also available - MMDA002MO - open roof & MMDA002MC - closed De Villars was one of the most exclusive French coachbuilders of the 1930s with an output of just twenty five or so cars per year built to exacting standards. This car left their workshops near Nice in 1938 and its most distinguishing feature is the rivetted fins on the wheel arches and tail. The car is modelled as it is today in the Sam Mann collection in New Jersey and there are a few detail differences to its original format. The kit is an interesting one and we see those very thin fins provided as fine etched brass pieces that fit into slots in the cleanly cast resin body. A two tone paint finish is needed but there’s a nice swage line in the body to mask to, so this should be relatively simple. The wire wheels are unusual too and Marsh have supplied these in kit form with etched spokes and machined rims to fit into the resin tyres before fitting plated centre caps. It will certainly make for an interesting build and is a very good looking subject.
