Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Ferdinand Porsche was originally approached by Zundap to design an inexpensive car for the ordinary worker at the beginning of the 1930s but it was Hitlerís rise to power that saw the project really pushed forward and by 1937 the cornerstone had been laid for a new factory near Wolfsburg. A few prototypes had been built by this point and in 1938 this car, the V30 first appeared and was used by party officials as part of extended testing. The car had no rear windscreen and a very small rear quarter window but otherwise the shape of the car that became one of the most successful machines in the history of motoring, the Beetle, can clearly be seen. A number of these early cars survive today and looking at photos of a restored example the model looks very good. A significant piece of motoring history.
