Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Peugeot 405T16 1st Pikes Peak 1988/89 Prior to Mr Loebís much publicised visit to America in 2013, this subject has to be one of the best known Pikes Peak entries thanks to Climb Dance, the stunning video of Ari Vatanenís winning run in 1988 (in the unlikely event that youíre reading this and havenít seen it, get on YouTube now!). Renaissance has been working on this kit for years and thereís plenty of detail for the cockpit and engine bay among the many resin castings and three sheets of etch. Thereís also scope to individualise your model as what is not included is any wiring for that finely cast engine. Three options are included on the decals, Vatanenís record breaking winner from 1988 and either of the cars from the following year driven by the Finn once again and Robby Unser, who eventually won. What does let this otherwise excellent kit down is the instructions which are quite vague in a lot of places, especially if you donít speak French.
Excellent kits, hand-built models and accessories (for plastic) using resin bodies, white metal parts, lots of very fine photo-etching and good decals. Some castings need cleaning. Excellent instructions. Beautifully built models too. Made in France
