Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine This is a subject that SMTS have been promising for the best part of a decade and at last makes a very welcome appearance. Cooper's mid-engined F3 car gave a great many racers their first taste of driving a real racing car back in the late 40s and early 50s and many of the greats cut their teeth on such machines. The kit here offers the choice of one of Moss' many race winners or the car with which Peter Collins started his career, though SMTS aren't sure which race their photo reference is from. The kit parts are very cleanly cast and for the Collins car you will need to carefully fit and blend a pair of extra air intakes on the rear. There appear to be future versions to come too as there are a pair of pannier fuel tanks included and shown on the assembly drawings, though they aren't needed for either of these. The hand builts are very well finished, those air intakes perfectly blended and the wheels are particularly delicate. A significant chapter in British motorsport history very nicely modelled.
Reasonably well cast white metal kits that build with ease. Open wheeled subjects usually accurate, road cars not always so. With hand-built models again single seaters usually better. Made in England.
