The Dakar rally moved from North Africa to South America in 2009 and for the second running on this continent it was very much a Volkswagen domination in the cars category. The year before Carlos Sainz had held an early lead but crashed out, this time he wasn’t going to make the same mistake and held on to victory from team mate Al Attiyah by just under three minutes at the end of fourteen days and nine thousand kilometres of competition! If the cars winning ways weren’t enough reason to add them to a Dakar collection, the Red Bull sponsorship is nice and striking and the finish of the models is excellent with a fine metallic grain to the paint, vividly printed decals and plenty of fine detailing.

The range which changed the 1:43 model market and for which we coined the term 'resincast'. Resin rather than traditional diecast bodies mean that relatively short production runs can be made and what might be marginal subjects become viable. Quality is very consistent with plenty of fine etch used where necessary. A huge range is the result, covering all aspects of (mostly postwar) motorsport and a wide variety of road cars.
