Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Matra MS5 Germany 1967 Ickx Alternative version SPK1595 Servoz-Gavin Matraís MS5 was used in both F2 and F3 with a variety of engines in the back and both of the cars that we see modelled here are F2 specification Ford-powered examples. Two works Matras headed the entry list for the Monaco GP, but with ballast added to bring them up to F1 weight they werenít hugely competitive, Servoz-Gavin managing to qualify but retiring early with mechanical problems in his example. At the Nurburgring the German GP had F1 and F2 classes and a young Jacky Ickx shocked the establishment by setting third fastest time overall in qualifying. The F2 cars had to start behind the bigger machines but the Belgianís skill saw him move up to fourth overall by half distance only for suspension failure to end his race. The shape of the cars is very well captured on the models and the liveries are accurately reproduced. The Servos-Gavin machine is in traditional Matra blue, while Ickxís car was run by Ken Tyrrell and was in a dark green with a blue, white and red nose stripe making for a very interesting colour scheme.
Very well finished mass produced resin built models. Ever improving detailing now incorporating more use of photoetched details for added finesse and with excellent paint finishes. Made in China
