Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Lotus 81 Belgium 1981 Mansell Alternative version SPK4285 Andretti & SPK4286 de Angelis Resplendent in its metallic blue and chrome livery the Lotus 81 looked very smart on track but it soon became apparent that this evolution of the not terribly successful Lotus 80 wasn’t much better. The highpoint of 1980 came very early in the season with de Angelis scoring a second place in Brazil. Amid the arguments surrounding their (too) innovative Type 88, Lotus was forced to use the 81 for the early races in 1981 too, Mansell scoring his first world championship points at Zolder. With a year’s development we see significant changes between the two versions of the car with different top bodywork and wing configurations. The details are all neatly modelled and the red and chrome stripe decals contrast nicely with the fine metallic blue paint.
Very well finished mass produced resin built models. Ever improving detailing now incorporating more use of photoetched details for added finesse and with excellent paint finishes. Made in China
