Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Porsche 962 1st Daytona 1985 #8 Valvoline The record books show that this car won the Daytona 24 Hours by a comfortable 17 laps but that doesn’t reflect the true story of the race. Lead drivers AJ Foyt and Bob Wollek were both suffering from flu and Al Unser Sr had never raced at night, leaving the team with a 12 lap deficit by the time darkness fell. Thierry Boutsen was drafted in and he along with Wollek worked hard through the night to reduce the deficit. In the last two hours of the race Wollek was sent out on a win or bust mission and then lady luck stepped in, Derek Bell stopping on the circuit in the lead car. The Preston Henn entered machine carried the expected Swap Shop sponsorship along with Brumos and Valvoline backing and Spark has done a very neat and tidy job of replicating this with excellent paint for the two main colours and clearly printed, carefully placed decals.
Very well finished mass produced resin built models. Ever improving detailing now incorporating more use of photoetched details for added finesse and with excellent paint finishes. Made in China
