Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine McLaren M16B 1st Indy 500 1972 Donohue The first in a new series of Indy 500 winners from Spark depicts the cars of Mark Donohue who gave Roger Penske his first win in the race as an entrant. The mirrors are mounted slightly high and the polished aluminium leading edge to the side pod intake has been missed, but otherwise the model looks very good in terms of shape and decoration. There’s plenty of detail to enjoy on the largely exposed turbo engine and we see plenty of fine etch for endplates, radiator facings etc. There are a couple of small decals to add to the rear wing endplates to finish off the sponsorship and the model is supplied in a large display case with a base that depicts a section of Indianapolis pit lane.
Very well finished mass produced resin built models. Ever improving detailing now incorporating more use of photoetched details for added finesse and with excellent paint finishes. Made in China
