Product Review Taken From Four Small Wheels Magazine Peugeot 405T16 1st Pikes Peak 1989 Unser Alternative version SPKPP006 Kankkunen There are a few machines in the history of the Pikes Peak event which have a special place in the memories of the fans and the 405T16s which dominated in 1988 and 1989 are among these. Al Unserís winning car includes, like Sparkís other Pikes Peak winners, a driver figure and as with the Vatanen versions (SPKPP088) all looks pretty good apart from the driverís feet being nowhere near the pedals. Kankkunen finished second to Vatanen in 1988 and this car is modelled without a figure. Both models have an air intake ahead of the rear wheel on the left but not on the right and this is correct for all the images of the winners that weíve seen for both years, but we have found one of Kankkunen on the mountain showing the right hand side of the car which also has a similar vent and this raises a question. Is that a practice shot or is the model incorrect?
Very well finished mass produced resin built models. Ever improving detailing now incorporating more use of photoetched details for added finesse and with excellent paint finishes. Made in China
