Tyrrell 003 1st Monaco 1971 #11 Stewart 1:12 by Tamiya
Tyrrell 003 Monaco 1971 Stewart 1:12
Tamiya’s Tyrrell 003 has always been a popular kit, both with its original issue back in the 70s and as a re-issue a few years ago. Here we see a significant reworking of the well detailed parts to create the unique Monaco Grand Prix version of the car, with a high ‘hammerhead’ nose wing allowing plenty of air to the radiator. This kit has full engine and chassis detail and there are various hoses and wires included for detailing the drivetrain. An etched fret includes radiator mesh, brake facings, rear wing endplates, various fasteners and seat belt buckles, the straps for these being printed fabric which will need careful cutting out. Although both Tyrrells ran with this main body design, there were subtle differences and so only the Stewart car is offered on the decal sheet. Good news for regular Tamiya 1:12 builders is that the tyres have the makers name moulded into the sidewall and the logos for the bodywork are also there, which hasn’t been the case in some recent releases.
